Peso da Régua, is commonly known as just “Régua”. The municipality belongs to one of the most notable wine regions of the world: the Douro, located in the northeast of Portugal. The town has been the most relevant Port wine producer, for centuries. With a population of more than 10,000 inhabitants, Peso da Régua plays a core role in tourism in Portugal, and most specifically, for the popularity of Portugal’s wine tourism industry.  

The region, that has been living on the revenue provided from wine, has been benefiting from new commerce and services development. Nevertheless, vineyards and wine continue to be the city’s hallmark. And obviously, wine tourism also plays a role in this phenomenon.

In Régua, there are different types of tourism activities that involve wine. You can either make a Douro Valley cruize or take the train and travel among the beautiful vineyards that the municipality has to offer.
